First stormy day...

After turning in at around 5am this morning (usual night owl behavior) I fell straight to sleep and woke up to a very stormy day, the rain and wind lashing at the window, cars making swooshing noises as they drove by and a distinct chill in the air - the first real autumnal storm has arrived.

I like a storm, it makes me feel awake, the way trees dance and that weird light that comes with violent weather is really special, but then I am lucky to live in a warm dry home, it would be a totally different story otherwise, and I always think of homeless souls and those who have their homes damaged by this kind of weather. There are reports on the news today of storm damage at the coast, caravans being torn to bits and big waves smashing town defenses. Thoughts are with them.

So today will mostly be spent indoors, drinking coffee, and making things for etsy...not bad.

Beautiful, wild Scotland.

Hello all, I have just returned from a lovely week in Scotland, the Isle of Mull and Iona to be precise - those of you who know me are aware no doubt that I go every year! We had some very nice weather mixed in with the storms and managed to do something everyday - lots of walking, photographing and taking in the air.

I think each of us has a place in the world which is more than just a holiday destination, a place that means more to us on a spiritual level, and this is the case for me. I have been visiting Mull for over 20 years, at least once a year, sometimes twice when I've been lucky, and there is always more than  enough to fill a week. This year is the first time we have been by car, usually it is a journey of trains, ferries and buses, but it was lovely to have the freedom of a vehicle. I feel lucky to have found such a place, to know it exists and one that I will see again.

Clocks change...British Summer Time?!

Well, its my one day off, the clocks have gone forward an hour signalling British Summer time...and its raining with a fair wind blowing! Never mind, hopefully things will now improve, it smells like spring out there and there is a vase of daffodils on the table beside me.

A week ago I was in beautiful Malta in the sunshine, taking in the rays and looking at fields full of vegetables, the sea shimmering and a warm breeze wafting by - what a difference a few days make! Come on summer, we need you!

Have a good Sunday all.
