They Shall Not Grow Old..

We went into town for Remembrance Sunday as usual this year, a glorious morning especially following the vile weather we have had of late, there was a great turn out and as the town fell silent a mood of communal pride was palpable. It is always a chance for people to come together and honour those who gave their everything - whether you agree with the reasons, the fact remains that so many died in wars that wasn't their choosing, from all countries and they should, in my opinion be remembered.

The rest of the day was normal Sunday happenings, cooking, eating, getting ready for the week ahead but with an overtone of it not just being another day. Last night we watched Peter Jackson's 'They Shall Not Grow Old'...my god. It was an amazing film, horrific, incredible and humbling, a view of the war that not many will ever experience, real lives and stories. I have nothing but admiration and gratitude for all soldiers, but what a terrible shame that the world doesn't seem to have learned a thing.
