Well, it's nearly midnight and Storm Callum is blowing a hoolie outside, the rain is thrashing down too. I have seen many reports today of trees blown down and roads blocked, I hope everyone stays safe and there isn't too much damage, although the worst is said to come yet. It does make me feel cosy, warm inside with the wild weather out there, when daylight comes I'll see if there is anything blown over in the garden.
I am lucky, I'm in my home, with the cat, husband and a camping stove in case the power goes off, I worry for those sleeping rough in weather like this, those with little shelter, knowing that the small amount I donate to charities does little to help.

Blimey Doris!
With reports all over Twitter and Facebook of trees down, injuries caused and roads closed it seems Doris has hit with a vengeance today. I was woken by rain and wind during the night, and although it makes a warm bed seem extra cosy with a storm raging outside, my poor husband had to go out in it to work at 5.30am! The cat however has had a lovely morning sitting in the kitchen window watching leaves blowing around, one happy customer for Doris at least.
Stay safe everyone!

Clocks change...British Summer Time?!
Well, its my one day off, the clocks have gone forward an hour signalling British Summer time...and its raining with a fair wind blowing! Never mind, hopefully things will now improve, it smells like spring out there and there is a vase of daffodils on the table beside me.
A week ago I was in beautiful Malta in the sunshine, taking in the rays and looking at fields full of vegetables, the sea shimmering and a warm breeze wafting by - what a difference a few days make! Come on summer, we need you!
Have a good Sunday all.

Cold, wet and wintry.
Hi all, well, today I feel the grip of winter descending, it is 4.40pm as I type, it is nearly dark outside, its raining and bloomin' cold! I do like winter, but have been lulled into a false sense of security by the unseasonably warm weather we have had of late. On Friday we had the warmest Halloween on record, it was dry and mild, but today things seem to be catching up with how November normally is.
I hope we have a dry, chilly winter, in all seriousness we need a few frosts to kill of the bugs in the garden and germs that bring on ill health - it is what out climate should be, even if it is inconvenient. I think I will be digging out my scarves and gloves tomorrow, whist packing away thinner clothes until next year!

Dramatic night for this owl!
Hi folks, I was at the fab Festival at the Edge again this year, camping on the beautiful Wenlock Edge as usual, and on Friday night we were all in for a real treat - although not all would say so! We had just been to see the last gig of the night by Blackbeard's Tea Party who are a brilliant rock/folk band ( listening to everything they have ever done on spotify as I type btw) the stars above were stunning, and in the distance we could see flashes..were they photos being taken at the beer tent? No, it was lightening in the distance, fork lightening to be exact of the most dramatic proportions...and they got closer, and closer. We zipped up the tent, settled down, and then about half an hour later the most almighty storm hit, thunder, rain, the works. It was nice to feel so cosy, but the thought of the tent being hit was a tad worrying!
Anyway, we survived the night and had another great 2 days of merriment - phew!
